My dude Rob Squire aka Prison Garde is killing it ATM. After releasing his debut album for FREE last week, he slew Bass Coast on Friday alongside Calamalka, Salva, Self Evident & myself.
This Saturday he begins a new chapter in Vancouver with Eames & the Midnight City team [AJK & Zeeaa]; Your’s Truly will feature “Club Music For The Discerning Individual” at the new W2 location. Shit like this…

Mad ups to the Bass Coast Girls - Friday & Saturday (had to miss Sunday) were two of the best nights of programming I’ve ever witnessed & wow, such a fantastic vibe all weekend.
The Friday night lineup at Slay Bay was a giant hi-5; I was fortunate to play alongside Calamalka, Prison Garde & Salva, 3 of my biggest influences in 2011. Prison Garde played a bunch of heaters from his FREE album & also dropped some new heat that he & Eames have been working on. Salva’s live riffing on the keys really blew err’body away… “Issay Miyake” was MASSIVE.
Definitely caught some fresh faces as well; BOGL’s Saturday evening set of trap/hyphy/dubstep was a killer respite from the rain & holy shit, Eprom/Max Ulis/Taal mala just MURDERED late Saturday. Taal Mala’s opening salvo of Aphex/Squarepusher had me freaking the fuck out.
All in all, just an amazing time. So much love for so many peeps. Thanks Bass Coast.

PLUSSS… my trip to Vancouver allowed me to pick this lil’ gem up. Finally found a Juno 106 & this one is in fantastic shape, refurbished etc. Got a few tunes full of midi just waiting for this mahfucka. New tunes will be popping up for Decibel… more on that soooon.

Very likely album of the year (or Africa Hitech?) in a few circles that I run… wander over to XLR8R to get an inside peek at Travis Stewart aka Machinedrum’s latest epic, Room(s). Fucking ECSTATIC that he’ll be along for Rifflandia in September, playing the Saturday night sub|div showcase.
The album is a tour-de-force. Stewart fuses contemporary bass music sounds with pop flare & impressive drum programming, yielding a super bangin’ set of dancefloor devastators. “Now U Know The Deal 4 Real” is a killer…
